We are constantly evolving. Some changes come through conscious choice… others through unforeseen challenge. But all of it… the beauty, the mess, the edits, the growth… shapes who we become. In this reflection, I explore how our past selves inform our present, and how the way we align today shapes the versions of us yet to come.
Hopefully you will look back fondly on that younger, more naive version of yourself… with appreciation for who your soul was then, and who you’ve become along the way. 💛
The Versions of Us
It’s funny how hindsight gives life so much perspective. As humans, I hope it’s a natural part of our evolution to personally grow and develop. Maybe we don’t all evolve at the same pace, but I like to believe we’re inherently becoming different versions of ourselves over time… simply through experience, both good and bad. Every decision, every moment, eventually invites reflection. And it’s in that reflection that growth becomes visible.
Even rereading things I wrote years ago sometimes gives me the “ick.” A sentence, a phrase, or a sentiment captures exactly who I was in that moment. There’s something beautiful in that. Sometimes, as I edit those words, I wonder if I should keep the original version somewhere. A snapshot of that former self… just for me… to revisit and see who that person was in that chapter of life, compared to who I am today.
This is why we can read and reread the same book, watch the same movie, or listen to the same song again and again… because time, and life lived in between, gives us new eyes. Familiar words take on new meaning. They don’t just change how we interpret the story; they can change us. That’s the power of words… written, spoken, or sung. Their impact is shaped by where we are on our journey.

Which Version Are You Right Now?
So take a moment. What version of yourself are you right now? You 2.0? 3.5? 7.1? How many versions have there been… and how many more will come? Some experiences shape us more profoundly than others. I know I’ll never again be the same person I was even just one year ago. That may be true for all of us, but sometimes, a single year holds the defining moment. Whether it’s a milestone or a trauma, some events mold us with intention. Others impose their growth on us uninvited… but either way, we are forever changed.
Ideally, we choose what transforms us. But whether chosen or not, it all carries weight. It all matters… both what you do and what you don’t do. Who you are today directly influences who you will become tomorrow. So, if you can choose: what do you want that future version of you to look like?
The Law of Resonance
I used to believe in the law of attraction. Now, I believe the law of resonance may be even more powerful. It’s not just about declaring what you want to be… it’s about aligning your subconscious to believe it, too.
Saying “I am [fill in the blank]” only sticks if your actions reinforce it. A better question might be: “Why am I [fill in the blank]?”
That invites your subconscious to seek the reasons and build alignment between your beliefs and your behavior.

So today, choose with intention. Align your words and your actions with the version of you that you want to become. And one day, hopefully you will look back fondly on that younger, more naïve version of yourself… with appreciation for who your soul was then, and who you’ve become along the way. ✨
